Automotive Telematics Bling

Here’s some bling from Telematics Update:
Telematics related
- New Ford SYNC services with turn-by-turn navigation by DeCarta and TeleNav with a TellMe interface.
- Microsoft Mobile 3.0 as a viable alternative to QNX and the “Open Infotainment” platform from the WindRiver, Intel and BMW.
- Toyota Telematics will battle mano a mano with GM’s OnStar using its G-Book Alpha system that lets you request directions to the nearest shopping mall.
- New traffic services are expected from the newly formed North American Traffic Working Group under the sponsorship of the ITS-America, with the mission to make traffic advisories better.
Infotainment Related
- Visteon (with 3M) showcased many new automotive interior design concepts.
- Mobile TV with the new ICO Mobile TV offering. AT&T AutoCruise with 25 channels and Audiovox Flo received much media attention.
- Internet radio was showcased by Blaupunkt and MiRoamer, with a Bluetooth-paired mobile phone with data connection.
- Gracenote CarStars, an avatar in your car helps you choose music (below).
