India Gets Navini Beamforming

Beamforming pioneer Navini Networks today announced it has signed a Value Added Services (VAS) agreement with GTL Limited, India’s largest Network Services provider, to provide services and solutions to Telecom operators deploying Navini’s Mobile WiMAX solutions (pdf).

“GTL’s main expertise comes from undertaking project management responsibility on behalf of our customers”, said Mr. Charudatta Naik, Chief Operating Officer, GTL Limited. “Our focus is providing a full suite of Network Services like planning and design, deployment, operations and maintenance in all the markets where we operate”.

Navini has an R&D center in Bangalore and offices in Bangalore and New Delhi. “We’ve had a strong presence in India for years with over 100 employees,” said Sai Subramanian, Navini’s VP of Product Management and Strategic Marketing. “We contribute to the Indian economy and we are dedicated to the Indian market.”

GTL executes projects in over 25 countries, has built over 35 cellular networks, installed and commissioned over 20,000 cell sites, connecting over 20 million subscribers, and has set up over 500 corporate networks.

Navini’s Smart WiMAX is a mobile WiMAX technology that incorporates beamformed MIMO and smart beamforming.

Horizon Wi-Com is trialing its high-speed wireless broadband service in major U.S. cities in the Northeast region using 802.16e compatible equipment from Navini Networks (pdf). Phase I of their deployment will implement service in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Richmond, and Cincinnati. Horizon Wi-Com purchased the 2.3 GHz, WCS A Block from Verizon.
